Vintage Report – Part 2

And before I go, last week I promised you an update from Rob on the status of our 2024 red wines. Here is what he had to say…

All the reds have now finished fermentation and have had malo-lactic fermentation bugs added.

Pinot Dry Red

The Pinot is nice and big and rich – good colour and very obvious pinot aromas and flavours.

LDR

This one is quite big too. It has real length to the palate and nice fine tannins. It will stay in tank through malolactic fermentation until it’s ready to go into bottle.

Tempranillo/Graciano

The Picnic Races Red has a lovely clean spiciness to it, helped along by the graciano. It’s quite big and will be into barrel soon.

  1. My sister was a ABC member, until I persuaded her to try Somerled. Guess what! Loves it.
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, I also convinced her to try other Adelaide Hills Chardonnay and she quite likes most of those. She is now an OAHCpS (Only Adelaide Hills Chardonnay preferably Somerled)

  2. Ha! I love it Steve. Well done on converting her. It’s not too hard a job though when it comes to Rob’s Chardy!
